Track Log for Gunn Peak
Gunn Peak

Date: August 30, 2020 Hikers: Mark Hastings
Description:

Gunn Peak is a hike/climb where you will not find trail runners. Not that I have anything against them. The first thing you have to do is actually find the trail, since there really isn’t a trailhead. Once you find the path, it gets right to business gaining elevation, very similar to the beginning of Baring Peak hike right across the valley. The trail (once found) isn’t hard to follow although at places you question who created this path in the first place. Once you gain about 3000 feet to the ridge, you enter a beautiful ridge and valley and you get your first view of Gunn Peak itself. The rest of the climb, about a 1000 feet, is steep and rocky and if you have any fear of heights you should stay away. The view from the summit makes the rest of the hike worth it.
